Covering Engineering

Once an industrial design concept for a machine or product has been developed, we can support the technical engineering, realization, and optimization required for series production.

Do you already have a design concept created by another design agency but are unsure how to transform it into a manufacturable product? We are equally happy to assist with the engineering process and technical development needed to bring your concept to life.

From Design Concept to Product Realization

Design concept

The design concept serves as the foundation for the subsequent engineering process.

Pre-engineering

Development of solutions for the most challenging design elements to assess technical feasibility at an early stage.

Engineering & Detailed Design

Complete engineering of the product structure and all enclosure components.

Prototyping

Production support, quality control, and assembly assistance.

Series Production Optimization

Enhancements focused on functionality, ease of assembly, cost efficiency, and manufacturability.

Pre-engineering

During the pre-engineering phase, we take the first steps in transforming a design concept into a technically feasible product. We focus on the most challenging aspects of the design and identify potential technical risks at an early stage.

Where required, we conduct research, calculations, and testing to verify the feasibility of proposed solutions. This may include complex door movements, load-bearing structures, mounting principles, and advanced sheet metal constructions.

Deliverables

  • Preliminary solution concepts for complex sheet metal components;
  • Concepts for door and motion mechanisms;
  • Technical solutions to meet specific requirements such as structural strength, laser safety, corrosion resistance, and ease of maintenance;
  • Technical consultation with suppliers and manufacturing partners;
  • Indicative cost estimate.

Engineering & Detailed Design

During the engineering and detail design phase, we fully develop the product structure and all enclosure components. Every part is engineered, validated, and prepared for production.

Upon completion of this phase, you will have a complete technical package that enables the production of a prototype or pilot series.

Deliverables

  • Production-ready 3D model;
  • Complete bill of materials (BOM), including purchased components and fastening hardware;
  • Comprehensive technical drawing package;

Manufacturing documentation for prototype construction or pilot production.

Prototype or Pilot Series

The enclosure can be manufactured by one of our trusted sheet metal production partners or by your own suppliers.

Before the parts are coated, we thoroughly inspected and assemble the prototype. This allows us to verify that all components fit correctly, function as intended, and meet the design requirements. Any necessary adjustments can still be implemented efficiently at this stage before the parts receive a durable powder-coated finish.

As a final step, the complete prototype, including all internal components, is assembled, evaluated, and tested together with the customer.

Series Production Optimization

The insights gained during the prototype phase and any functional testing provide the foundation for further optimization towards series production.

During this phase, we implement improvements in functionality, assembly efficiency, cost reduction, and manufacturability. The design is optimized for reliable and efficient production in both small and large production volumes, without compromising quality or appearance.

Result

A technically robust, cost-effective product that is fully prepared for successful series production.

Many companies strengthen their competitive position through Smart Customization and Engineering-to-Assembly (ETA), where product functionality is intelligently aligned with customer requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions

The duration depends on project complexity.

Typical projects range from:

  • 1–3 months for medium-sized engineering projects
  • 6 months to over a year for complex machine or product development projects

An engineering project is the process of transforming an idea into a technical solution that can be built, manufactured, or implemented.

The exact process differs by industry, but we generally follow the Systematic Design Methodology, which provides a structured approach from concept to realization.
